Docebo VILT for Microsoft Teams: Live Events Stop Working April 27, 2026

On April 27, 2026, all ILT sessions configured with "Teams Live Event" will break. Here is exactly what stops working, who is affected, and what you need to do before the deadline.

Mark your calendar: on April 27, 2026, Docebo's VILT integration for Microsoft Teams Live Events will stop functioning. This is not a deprecation with a soft landing — any ILT session currently configured with the "VILT for Microsoft Teams live event" tool will simply stop working on that date. Learners trying to join will not be able to. Instructors will have no meeting to host.

The root cause is not Docebo's decision — Microsoft is retiring Teams Live Events at the Graph API level, which is what Docebo uses to create and manage those sessions. Once Microsoft pulls the API support, the integration has nothing to connect to.

What Exactly Stops Working

The specific item being deprecated is the "VILT for Microsoft Teams live event" video conference tool option within ILT session configuration. After April 27:

  • The option will no longer appear when configuring new ILT events.
  • Any existing ILT sessions that were already configured with this option will no longer function — the live event link will be dead.
  • Learners and instructors will not receive a working join link for those sessions.

Note: the "VILT for Microsoft Teams meeting" option is not affected. Only the "live event" variant is being retired.

What You Need to Do Before April 27

There is no automatic migration. Docebo will not silently convert your existing "live event" sessions to "meetings." You need to take action manually:

  • Audit your ILT events: Identify all sessions currently configured with "VILT for Microsoft Teams live event." You can do this through the ILT management area or by pulling a sessions report.
  • Recreate the Microsoft 365 account as "Meeting" type: If your Teams connector account is set up as a "Live Event" account type in Docebo's integrations, you will need to recreate it as a "Meeting" account. Go to Admin > Apps & Features > Microsoft Teams, and check the account type configured.
  • Reconfigure affected ILT sessions: For each session that uses "Teams live event," update the video conference tool to "VILT for Microsoft Teams meeting." This may require editing sessions individually — there is no bulk migration tool available.
  • Stop creating new Live Event sessions immediately: Any new ILT events you create from now on should use the "Teams Meeting" option to avoid having to redo this work closer to the deadline.

Who Is Affected

Any Docebo organization that has used Microsoft Teams Live Events as the virtual classroom tool for ILT sessions is affected. This is most common in larger organizations that host webinar-style training with large audiences, since Live Events were designed for one-to-many broadcasts. If your org has been using Teams Meetings (not Live Events) for virtual ILT, you have nothing to do.

If you are unsure which type your org uses: go to a recent ILT session and look at the "Video conference tool" field. If it says "VILT for Microsoft Teams live event," you are in scope.

The Underlying Shift: From Live Events to Teams Meetings

Microsoft's broader direction is to replace Live Events with Town Halls and virtual meetings, which offer richer functionality. For most training use cases, Teams Meetings provide everything an ILT session needs — breakout rooms, recording, participant management — and are now the recommended path for virtual instructor-led training in Docebo.
